New Year, Same Old Me.

Updated: Dec 31, 2020

Uh, So the month, the year, the decade has finally come to an end and it's the start of something new!

Did you party on New year's eve or were you huddled in a blanket re-watching your favourite series? Did you get a new year's kiss or were you going solo?

All of that doesn't really matter because hey! It's the new year, right?

It's a new year which means it's time to make new resolutions so we can change ourselves for the better, new year, new us, right?

But, my friend, isn't time just an illusion?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to demotivate you or anything. Sure, I want you to become your best self but not just because it's a new year. I also don't want you getting obsessed with the new year resolutions since they can lead to nothing but disappointment if not followed through.

All I'm trying to say is, it really doesn't matter whether you got your New year Eve's kiss or you spent your year being single. Whether you cried yourself to sleep because of what a terrible year you've had or you celebrated the night getting drunk with your friends. What matters is that this is the time to start afresh.

Let go of your inner demons and focus on the positivity. What's gone is gone, we can't do anything about that but we can sure as hell have a fantastic present while planning ahead for our future.

Sorry, that was a trick suggestion.

The purpose of the post is to help you realize the importance of today, the importance of the time you have in your hands, right now.

Nothing really matters as long as you're happy in the moment. So, ask yourself tonight before going to bed if you're happy.

If not, you always have tomorrow to look forward to!

As for your new year resolutions, don't beat yourself up if you can't accomplish everything on 1st January itself because 2nd January will be a fresh start too!

Signing off,

Yours flawed,

Gargi Thakur
